Once again one of my signs has been added to a treasury on Etsy!!! What a complement :)
This treasury is titled, "Over the river and through the woods". It had some beautiful pictures and gift ideas for Grandmas.
My sign that was 'treasured' this time is the 'Nana's House Rules' sign. This sign can be customized with your 'Grandma' name. Some examples I've had orders for are:
Nana's House, Grandma's House, Nana & Papa's, Mimi's and more.

Grandma's House Rules hand-painted wood sign, listing #128900159

I was appalled

This past weekend I attended a CHRISTIAN WOMEN'S conference in Springfield, Mo.
  • There were over 2,000 women in attendance! Wow that is amazing right?
  • All the women there had their hair styled beautifully - I felt totally out of place with my hair in a pony tail.
  • All the women had their makeup done beautifully and wore stylish clothes. I feel out of place again. I was wearing a sweatshirt.
  • People were BUYING LIKE CRAZY! Books, cd's, t-shirts, coffee - one book table sold out. All these purchases proclaiming them as Christians! Yeah! "I'm a christian" or "I'm going to learn about Christianity" Wonderful! Right?
Compassion International was there with thousands of children in need - people were snatching them up to sponsor them!! Each woman attending this conference received a package of materials that included a child's packet in it. I received a packet for Jordan who was priority; he had waited 15 months to be sponsored. At our first break they announced that 50 children had already been sponsored!!! Yeah, Praise to God we've helped 50 children in need. So they said lets up the ante and go for 75!!! Lets really make a difference!
At the end of the 2 day conference we exceeded the 75 we were going for and ended up with 134 children being sponsored. 134 children will receive the help they need.

Wonderful...Right?...I think not!

Remember, all the women dressed, hair done, makeup, buying like crazy? Over 2,000 of them?

Over 2,000 of these women...comfortably clothed, with purses, jackets, nice shoes...etc.
and 134 children given some assistance.

Pathetic. This is all we can achieve from 2,000 Christian women?

Maybe its me that just doesn't understand. Maybe these women have already sponsored kids, maybe they give till it hurts to other charities. Maybe that is the case and I'm the one with the negative attitude. I pray that is the case. IF I am right, I just ask that all the women at that conference could read this blog or that God will speak to each one of them. Maybe someone else will be appalled that only 134 women took action. Prayer is powerful and if you are reading this blog, please pray with me that more people will feel the way I do and make a difference in a child's life.

There are many organizations where we can help. Just Google 'sponsor' a child. You'll find Compassion International, Children International, Feed the Children, World Vision, Save the Children.

Thanks for reading :) and have a Blessed day. Here is little Jordan.

Etsy & Etsy Treasuries

I'm always so surprised when I talk to people and they've never heard of Etsy! Etsy.com is an AWESOME online marketplace and you can find all the most unique things there. Mostly everything is hand-crafted and can be customized or made to your specifications. I've been a member of Etsy since 2008 but just started selling my signs in January of 2013. I've sold 1,145 signs so far this year! It is so exciting. I have my dream job now :)

A treasury on Etsy is an ever-changing, member-curated shopping gallery (so in other words this means that someone on Etsy put together a group of products that they like and group it into a 'treasury'.

So, WOW, I'm always thrilled when someone chooses one of my signs to be a part of their treasury. Yesterday I received this notice that I'd been featured in the following treasury. Thank you so much to Nicky and Gerda :)

Gearing up for the Holidays

I've been working like mad trying to get geared up for the Christmas rush. I have SO MANY ideas for new signs and signs I've wanted to make for a long time. I've gotten to a few of them lately so here come the pictures!

Sweetest Little Boy
                       Sweetest Little Girl
SUCH A SWEET COMPLIMENT!
  • I posted the boy version of the sign above on my Facebook page and one nice mom shared this story with me. She said that she read this to her son and her son said, 'put it in the cart mom!' LOL
I am so happy to know that not just the moms but the little boys also like my signs - that is my best ever compliment

Another mom said when she received her package in the mail, she opened it and  read the sign she ordered to her little boy and he gave her a huge hug!
I just love hearing stories like this! I love my business and I get to talk with such great people all the time. I love it when they share photos of my signs hanging in their homes...so fun :)
